The 2nd Annual “ Shields Takes the Field” Women’s Charity Softball Tournament is hosted by the North Carolina Lady Troopers.  It will be held on April 22nd - 24th, 2016 at the Frank Liske Park (4001 Stough Road, Concord, NC.)

Registration Fee is $400.  Registration is due by Friday April 1st, 2016.  (Mail to: Special Olympics P.O. Box 2931 Huntersville, NC 28070

TEAM REQUIRMENTS:

*All Women Slow Pitch Softball

*50% of each team’s roster must be emergency services personnel (Police, Fire and EMT); the other 50% can be non-emergency services.

*Each team should have a Law Enforcement Agency name; however, officers from multiple agencies may create one team with the addition of other emergency services personnel if needed. 

*Each team should designate a coach and captain and submit their contact information with their registration forms.

If you are planning on putting a team together, remember the NCLEWA will assist up to three (3) teams on their registration fee.  HOWEVER, $400 would be split amongst the teams.  In other words: each team would get $133 to put toward their registration fee.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Friday, April 22, 2016:

6:30 p.m. Welcome Event at host hotel.  (Corn hole tournament)  

Saturday, April 23, 2016:

Opening Ceremonies are at 9:00 a.m.

Competition:

Each team will play at least three (3) games to determine tournament bracket on Sunday.

*Dinner will be served at the park after the conclusion of the final game. (Last year it was barbeque style)

Sunday, April 24, 2016:

Single-elimination tournament begins at 9:00 a.m.

CHOSEN CHARITY:

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an International fundraising campaign for Special Olympics. Special Olympics provide year-round sports training and competition for more than 3.5 million children and adults around the world who have intellectual disabilities. In 2015, the NC Torch Run 40,000 athletes participate in Special Olympics in North Carolina, making it one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world. www.nctorchrun.com
