Salary and Benefits:

The full pay range for the Police Chief position is $102,465.00 - $163,946.00. The starting salary is based on the individual’s demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education. The City of Jacksonville provides an excellent benefits package, including health and dental coverage and NC Local Government Employee Retirement Plan participation. There is a residency requirement to live within the city limits of Jacksonville within 12 months of appointment to the position.

Desirable Training and Experience

Graduation from a two-year college with a degree in criminal justice, emergency medical services, fire services management, emergency management or in related field with extensive experience in 911 communications and/or public safety operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire.

Obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification within six of employment.
